Your Appointment

How to book my appointment?

We are so excited to have you in the salon. If you are ready to book, please head over to our booking system linked below to check our availability and secure your appointment. We require a booking fee to secure all appointments. The booking fee will apply as a credit towards your appointment unless you would like to rebook and in this case the booking fee would carry on to the next booking.

At times, our team can get booked up for a number of weeks for this reason we always recommend booking your next appointment in advance when in salon for your treatments to avoid missing out.

Can I bring my children or a friend to my appointment?

KLIF is proud to provide an adults only retreat to all of it’s guests. We kindly request for you to attend your appointments alone and arrange childcare for the duration of your appointments. This policy is agreed to by all guests when booking with a Service Provider. Guests that attend their appointment with a +1 or minor will be asked to reschedule and a cancellation fee will apply.

How to prepare for my appointment?

It’s important you feel relaxed and calm coming into KLIF to embrace the retreat feel we are creating for you.

If you could arrive makeup free this will reduce cutting into your appointment time, however we do have a basin for you to wash your face prior to your appointment. If you know you will need to remove makeup please try to arrive early with enough time to do so in salon.

Getting a lash treatment? Please avoid the use of waterproof mascara in the week leading up to your appointment.

Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages prior to your appointment as caffeine causes your eyelids to flutter which is a safety concern. In extreme cases where guest’s eyelids are not able to close or relax for the service we have had to reschedule guests to another day. In this instance a cancellation fee applies.

How to change or cancel my appointment?

Please give us as much notice as possible when cancelling or changing your appointments. Cancellations or changes within 48 hours of your confirmed appointment time will result in loss of booking fee.

Our booking system will automatically create a profile for you when you make an appointment. You can login to the system with your mobile number and this will give you access to view past and future appointments where you will then be able to reschedule/cancel your appointment. This feature to reschedule/cancel online is available to use 24/7 up until 48hrs prior to the appointment.

If cancelling or rescheduling within the 48hr window you will need to phone the salon on 07 2103 5905 and leave a message. Please note, if you cancel last minute on more than 2 occasions you will be asked to settle any debts on file as well as pay for future bookings in full.

What happens if I don’t show up?

Due to our high demand if you fail to attend your appointment without notice, your booking fee will be forfeited and the remaining balance of the service booked will automatically be deducted from your account saved on file.

Future bookings will only be able to be made once the balance has been settled.

Lash Extensions

How do I know which type of lashes to choose?

We offer three ranges of lashes being classic, hybrid and volume; however there are no limits on the styles to choose from within each of these ranges. This is what we are here for. During your first appointment you will have an in depth consultation with us to identify what style, curl and shape will best suit your facial features and desired look. If you have any questions about which set to book yourself in for, please don’t hesitate to give us a ring.

How long do lash extensions last?

When applied and aftercared correctly lash extensions can last as long as the life of your natural lash. Everyone’s lash cycle varies between 5 – 8 weeks. We recommend getting a refill every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking full.

What maintenance is required?

KLIF Lashes & Brows recommend that you brush your eyelash extensions after washing and drying them to ensure they remain straight and in line with your natural lashes. We also recommend you wash them every day before you go to bed with a lash approved cleanser. Don’t own a lash approved cleanser? Feel free to purchase one in the salon.

How long does it take to get a refill?

You will see our refills are structured in a time based booking. Express, Standard and Extended. Depending which style of extensions you have (Classic/Hybrid/Volume) the refills will range anywhere between 45mins to 2hrs. This is all dependant on how you care for your lashes and how often you attend. The longer you leave between refills the more time you will need.

Can I wear mascara?

Short answer, no. Your eyelash extensions are an investment to replace this process from your daily make up routine. If you wear mascara, this will reduce the life span of your eyelash extensions. You can however wear mascara on your lower lash line if you do not opt to get extensions applied on your lower lashes.

Can I wear makeup when having my eyelashes applied?

Your eyelashes must be clean and clear of all makeup and oils. We request you to attend your appointment completely fresh faced to ensure the bond between the adhesive and your natural lash is not compromised and to avoid the eyepads sliding into your eyes which can cause irritation. It is also a preliminary recommendation to avoid wearing water proof mascara in the week leading up to your appointment.

When are extensions not suitable for someone?

Keep in mind that lash extensions may not be for everyone. That being said, we are always happy to have a chat about if they are right for you. In some cases, we may not recommend extensions, but perhaps a lash lift might be better suited for you. Some considerations for you not getting extensions may be if you have:

– An allergic reaction to gel pads or eyelash extension adhesive before

– Sensitive eyes e.g they often swell, itch or water

– Have an eye infection, conjunctivitis, or medical condition that affects your lash and eye health

– Have recently had eye surgery/cosmetic eye treatments – eg. eyeliner tattoo, lash perm

– Cannot lay still on your back for a long time due to pregnancy or back problems

– Have experienced claustrophobia (your eyes must stay closed for up to 3hrs at a time depending which set you are booked in for)

– Are unable to follow the advised aftercare e.g you aren’t willing to switch to oil-free eye products

What are your aftercare recommendations?

– Keep your lashes dry for 1 hour.

- We recommend washing your lashes with the lash approved cleanser purchased in salon an hour after your appointment. This reduces the chance of reaction to the adhesive by washing away any lingering vapours on the skin.

– No swimming, steam rooms, saunas or facials for 48hrs

– Use only water based eyelash extension approved makeup removers, cleansers or makeup. Oil/cream/wax based products will shorten the life of your eyelash extensions

– An eyelash extension approved cleanser MUST be used on your lashes daily to help prevent eye infections and lash mite infestations. Mites love feeding on dead skin cells and oils

– Regular cleansing will keep your natural lashes healthy, your eyelash extensions lasting longer and will help prevent a build-up of natural oils, dust and makeup

– Use a microfibre cloth to blot dry lashes after washing your face. Following this, please brush your lashes with your spoolie

– Avoid exfoliants around the eye area. This includes chemical exfoliators like AHAs, Glycolic Acid & Salicylic based cleansers. (Check the ingredients in your products)

– NO eyelash curlers are to be used while wearing eyelash extensions

– NO mascara

– Avoid rubbing, touching or picking your eyelash extensions. This can become addictive, so just don’t even go there!

– Please let your lash stylist know immediately if you experience any irritation or discomfort

– Don’t forget to pre-book your eyelash refills at 2-3 week intervals in order to maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions

Safety

Can my natural lashes be damaged from eyelash extensions?

If your lash tech does not follow the fundamentals of lash application then yes, there is a risk that your natural lashes can be damaged.

You can trust that at KLIF we are experienced and follow the Golden Rules in eyelash extension application after being trained through the most comprehensive eyelash extension course available in Australia by 2019 ABIA Educator of the Year Organisation LashJoy Academy

It is important to note however; it takes two to tango! We will apply the highest quality set of lashes, but once you walk out of our doors, you are responsible and in charge of your aftercare routines, which are so important for the safety and longevity of your eyes and lashes.

Lash mites... Are they real or a silly lash industry myth?!

Unfortunately….. they are real. Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis are microscopic mites invisible to the naked eye. They’re naturally prevalent in your hair follicles, where they feed on dead skin cells. Don’t stress. Everyone has small amounts of these mites but they become problematic in large quantities, which can cause further skin issues.

Keeping up with your lash cleansing is recommended (even if you don’t have extensions) as apart of your daily skin routine.

Lash Lift & Tints

What is a lash lift?

The lash lift procedure has revolutionized old, inadequate perming techniques. Using silicone pads instead of perm rods, this new technique can lift, straighten or curl and lengthen your natural lashes to create a brighter, fuller, wide eyed look. No need for extensions and the associated aftercare, this will last you 6-8 weeks.

How long does it take?

The lash lift & tint procedure can take anywhere between 50mins – 70mins from start to finish.

Can I wear mascara with a lash lift?

Yes! You can wear mascara. Your lashes must remain dry and left untouched for the first 48hrs following your treatment as the lashes will still be extracting moisture during this time. But after this, you are free to wear mascara. We recommend using Elleevate mascara available in salon. This partnered with Elleeplex Advanced treatment will have your lashes healthier than ever! Please avoid using waterproof mascara.

How do I need to prepare for the treatment?

Please arrive to your appointment make up free. If you wear contacts, they MUST be removed prior to your appointment. Avoid consumption of caffeine atleast 3hrs prior to your appointment (your eyes will flutter when you have consumed caffeine which makes it harder to isolate).
